After four decades of drinking alcohol, I finally asked:
Why?
Not,
“Why was I drinking?”
But…
“Where did I go?”
And perhaps more importantly…
“Why was I there?”
2026, Today I understand:
I wasn’t simply drinking alcohol. I was asking those drinks to give me something I didn’t yet know how to give myself.
